2025 is nearly over, and while it was a big disappointment at the box office and also for film fans, it was one of the better years for television fans, as we got many brilliant shows on both the big and small scales. With incredible shows like The Pitt starting the year, there was no way that the rest of the year could go badly, and that’s what happened because we got powerful and brilliant shows like American Primeval and The Bear Season 4. So, we compiled the list of the best returning and new shows of 2025.
Twisted Metal Season 2 (Peacock)
Twisted Metal is a post-apocalyptic action comedy series co-developed by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Michael Jonathan Smith. Based on Sony’s Twisted Metal video game franchise, the second season of the Peacock series continues the story of John Doe and Quiet as they reunite and take part in the titular deadly game hosted by a maniacal Calypso. Twisted Metal Season 2 stars Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa, Will Arnett, Anthony Carrigan, Tiana Okoye, Patty Guggenheim, and Saylor Bell Curda.
Dept. Q (Netflix)
Dept. Q is a Scottish crime thriller drama series co-developed by Scott Frank and Chandni Lakhani. Based on Jussi Adler-Olsen’s Department Q book series, the Netflix series is set in Scotland, and it follows top-rated detective Carl Morck, who returns to his job after an on-the-job shooting. He is sidelined as the head of a new cold case unit, but he soon takes on a high-profile case and tries to solve it with the help of two misfits. Dept. Q stars Matthew Goode, Kelly Macdonald, Chloe Pirrie, Alexej Manvelov, Leah Byrne, Steven Miller, and Mark Bonnar.
MobLand (Paramount+)
MobLand is a British crime drama series created by Ronan Bennett. The Paramount+ series follows Harry Da Souza, a fixer for the Harrigans, a powerful crime family in Britain. When the Harrigans go to war against another crime family, it’s Harry’s job to keep everyone safe and ensure the Harrigans’ victory. MobLand stars Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Jasmine Jobson, Mandeep Dhillon, and Helen Mirren.
Peacemaker Season 2 (HBO Max)
Peacemaker is a superhero action comedy series created by James Gunn. Based on the DC Comics characters of the same name, Season 2 of the HBO Max series follows Chris as he discovers an alternate reality where his father and brother are still alive and decides to go there, but with Rick Flag Sr. on his tail, it’s up to the rest of the 11th Street kids to save him. Peacemaker Season 2 stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, Robert Patrick, and Sol RodrÃguez.
The Pitt (HBO Max)
The Pitt is a medical procedural drama series created by R. Scott Gemmill. The HBO Max series takes place during an extremely intense 15-hour single shift of a group of doctors and nurses working at the emergency room of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. The Pitt stars Noah Wyle, Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherina LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, and Fiona Dourif.
Black Rabbit (Netflix)
Black Rabbit is a crime thriller drama miniseries co-created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman. The Netflix series follows Jake, the owner of an NYC hotspot whose troubled brother comes back into his life and brings with a dangerous loan chasing him to collect the money he owes. Black Rabbit stars Jude Law, Jason Bateman, Cleopatra Coleman, Sope Dirisu, Amaka Okafor, and Troy Kotsur.

The Gilded Age is a historical drama series created by Julian Fellowes.
