In 2019 after wrapping up Game Of Thrones’ final season David Benioff and D.B. Weiss signed a huge deal with Netflix to produce new projects for the streaming service. Some of the projects have already been announced and one has already been released.

Leslie Jones: Time Machine

Release Date: January 14, 2020

Type: Standup Special

Leslie Jones‘s first standup special came to Netflix in January 2020, and it was directed by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Leslie Jones is most known for her work on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

Netflix’s official synopsis for the standup special is, “From trying to seduce Prince to battling sleep apnea, Leslie Jones traces her evolution as an adult in this joyfully raw and outrageous stand-up special.

The Chair

Every David Benioff and D.B. Weiss Project Coming To Netflix

The Chair is the only project that has been officially announced by Netflix.

Netflix’s official synopsis is, “The Chair centers around the Chair of an English department at a major university”.

Sandra Oh (Killing Eve, Grey Anatomy) and Jay Duplass (Transparent) have been officially announced as the cast of the series. Amanda Peet and Annie Julia Wyman are set to write and produce the series, and Bernie Caulfield is also attached as a producer.

Metal Lords

Release Date: TBA

Type: Movie

This one hasn’t actually been announced by Netflix yet, but according to What’s On Netflix the filming for the movie will begin in early 2021.

The movie is set to be a teen comedy music drama coming of age story of two boys who are obsessed with heavy metal and their mission to beat the popular kids in the bands’ competition.

The Three-Body Problem

The Three-Body Problem Coming To Netflix

Netflix signed the the duo to get great and unforgettable content from them and The Three-Body Problem has the potential for just that.

The Three-Body Problem series will be adapted from the novel of the same name written by the Chinese author Liu Cixin, and to adapt the project Alexander Woo is joining David Benioff and D.B. Weiss while Brad Pitt, Rian Johnson, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dede Gardner are serving as producers.

The official logline for the series is, “The story of humanity’s first contact with an alien civilization. Set against the backdrop of China’s Cultural Revolution, a secret military project sends signals into space to establish contact with aliens. An alien civilization on the brink of destruction captures the signal and plans to invade Earth.

Meanwhile, on Earth, different camps start forming, planning to either welcome the superior beings and help them take over a world seen as corrupt, or to fight against the invasion. The result is a science fiction masterpiece of enormous scope and vision.

The Overstory

Type: Unknown

Collider has reported that there is a project based on the novel by Richard Powers The Overstory is in the works at Netflix with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Reportedly, The Overstory is Netflix’s Co-CEO Reed Hastings favorite novel.
