Suits has now become one of the most-watched TV shows on Netflix with over 3.14 billion minutes of watch time surpassing the fantasy drama Manifest. The USA Network legal drama had everything working for it when it came out on the streaming service including brilliant characters, thrilling storylines, a genius blend of comedy and drama, and last but certainly not least Meghan Markle.
Now, that we know what kind of success a good television drama can achieve on Netflix, we are faced with another question and that is if a show with all the good qualities that Suits had minus Meghan Markle, comes out on Netflix will it enjoy the same fate as the legal drama or not. So, let’s find out.
Created by Jon Ehrlich, the USA Network heist drama White Collar is on Netflix from April 1 with all of its six seasons, and while on paper there are not many similarities between the two USA Network shows. If we dig a bit deeper we will find some like Suits’ biggest thing was the bromance between Harvey Specter and Mike Ross and in White Collar the whole series revolves around the partnership and bond between con man and thief Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) and FBI Agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay).
Before going any further let me tell what White Collar is about. The USA Network series is set in New York and follows the story of a genius thief, forger, and con man Neal Caffrey who would have never been caught without FBI Agent Peter Burke. When Neal escapes from prison with only months left in his prison sentence, Peter finds him again but this time, instead of sending him back to prison, they sign a deal in which Neal will help the FBI catch white-collar criminals who pull off incredible heists and cons.
White Collar has everything Suits had including an ensemble of charming and layered characters with thrilling and mind-bending storylines. The cast of the series also includes some brilliant and largely overlooked actors including Bomer, DeKay, Tiffani Thiessen, Willie Garson, Hilarie Burton, and Marsha Thomason, and only for the first season we also have Alexandra Daddario as a recurring character.
So, while we can’t predict what people will give their time to on Netflix, we can certainly say that if you do decide to watch White Collar on Netflix you won’t be wasting your time as it is a great series that might not have gotten all the love it deserved while it airing on television.
