Mike Flanagan Confirms ‘Fall of the House of Usher’ Release Window & Number of Episodes

Mike Flanagan is one of the most visionary creators working in the horror genre. The brilliant director has released a new project every year since 2016. Flanagan began his career in the 2011 horror mystery film Absentia starring Courtney Bell and Katie Parker. He also made one of the best Netflix original series The Haunting of Hill House and is currently working on a new series based on Edgar Allen Poe‘s writings titled The Fall of the House of Usher. For the upcoming Netflix series, Flanagan has confirmed the release window on Netflix and how many episodes will be in it.

Flanagan and producer Trevor Macy attended New York Comic-Con to celebrate the premiere of their new series The Midnight Club, which premiered today. During this, Collider asked the creator about his upcoming Netflix series and he answered that The Fall of the House of Usher will contain eight episodes and it could release in the spring of next year. He specified that the series could premiere on Netflix in March of next year but the decision isn’t final yet.

The highly anticipated horror miniseries Fall of the House of Usher wrapped up filming back in June and is based on multiple works of Edgar Allan Poe, making this series the fifth collaboration of Netflix and Flanagan. The series is supposed to be a combination of Poe’s short story of the same name and his anthology collection Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque.

The Fall of the House of Usher stars Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Carla Gugino, Mary McDonnell as Madeline Usher, Carl Lumbly as C. Auguste Dupin, Mark Hamill, Henry Thomas, Samantha Sloyan, T’Nia Miller, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Katie Parker, Michael Trucco, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Kyleigh Curran, Paola Nuñez, Aya Furukawa, Matt Biedel, Daniel Jun, Ruth Codd, Robert Longstreet, JayR Tinaco, Igby Rigney, and Annabeth Gish. The series also had some recasting to do as Frank Langella was later replaced by Gerald’s Game famed actor Bruce Greenwood.

The Fall of the House of Usher still doesn’t have an official release date yet, but at least now the fans know when to expect the series. The Fall of the House of Usher could premiere on Netflix in the spring or fall of 2023.
