Fallout is finally here and by the grace of god and Jonathan Nolan, it’s great. Based on an RPG video game series of the same name Prime Video is set in a world that was destroyed by a nuclear war 219 years and now the survivors have divided themselves into different factions. In this dangerous and unforgiving world, we follow the story of a privileged and naive young woman who has lived all her life in a civilized society in an underground vault, but some unexpected circumstances force her to leave the security of the vault behind and venture out into the real world. Fallout stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins in the lead role with Moisés Arias, Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Zach Cherry, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Johnny Pemberton, Sarita Choudhury, and Leslie Uggams starring in supporting roles. Twisted Metal (Peacock)

If you love the violent and oftentimes weird dystopian world of Fallout, then you should check out Twisted Metal. Based on a video game franchise of the same name and developed for television by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Michael Jonathan Smith, Twisted Metal is set in a dystopian future where survivors have built smaller cities leaving all the criminals out making most of the world very dangerous, and in this world we follow the story of a blabbermouth driver John Doe, who lives outside the city walls and is given a chance to live in the city but only if he delivers a mysterious package from one city to another. In this deadly journey, John Doe is helped by a car thief named Quiet, who is on her quest for vengeance. Twisted Metal stars Anthony Mackie in the lead role with Stephanie Beatriz, Samoa Joe, Neve Campbell, Will Arnett, and Thomas Haden Church starring in supporting roles.

The Last of Us (Max & Prime Video Add-On)

Fallout has joined the list of great video game adaptations just like The Last of Us, which was the series that gave everyone hope for video game-to-series adaptations in the first place. Based on a video game series of the same name and developed for television by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the HBO series is set in a post-apocalyptical world where most of the people have turned into zombie-like creatures, and the survivors have small outposts all across America. The Last of Us follows the story of Joel, who takes on the task of delivering a teen girl named Ellie prompting them to go on a perilous road trip across what’s left of America. The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the lead roles with Nick Offerman, Storm Reid, Anna Torv, Melanie Lynskey, Gabriel Luna, and Merle Dandridge starring in supporting roles.

Daybreak (Netflix)

Daybreak is set in a world that was destroyed because of a nuclear war and now all the survivors have divided into separate factions just like Fallout. Based on a comic series of the same name by Brian Ralph and developed for television by Brad Peyton and Aron Eli Coleite, the Netflix series in a very weird post-apocalyptical world that was destroyed because of nuclear bombs that turned all the adults into “ghoulies” and it follows the story of a teen boy as he tries to find his lost love. Daybreak stars Colin Ford in the lead role with Alyvia Alyn Lind, Austin Crute, Sophie Simnett, Cody Kearsley, Krysta Rodriguez, and Matthew Broderick starring in supporting roles.

Sweet Tooth (Netflix)

Sweet Tooth is a dystopian adventure drama based on a DC comic book series of the same name by Jeff Lemire. Created by Jim Mickle, the Netflix series is set in a world that was destroyed because of a viral pandemic killing off most of the human population, and at the same time new babies start to be born as animal and human hybrids. Sweet Tooth follows the story of a hybrid boy named Gus and his gruff protector who travel across America to find Gus’ mother while being chased by hunters who kill hybrid babies. Sweet Tooth stars Christian Convery in the lead role with Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar, Will Forte, and Neil Sandilands starring in supporting roles.

Cowboy Bebop (Crunchyroll, Hulu & Prime Video Add-On)

Cowboy Bebop is a very hard-to-describe neo-noir space western anime created by Hajime Yatate. The 1998 anime series is set in the year 2071, nearly fifty years after an accident with a hyperspace gateway that made the Earth uninhabitable follows the story of a group of bounty hunters led by Spike, as they go on various adventures dealing with several psychotic criminals. Cowboy Bebop also has a live-action adaptation on Netflix but it’s not as good as the original series.

Doom Patrol (Max & Prime Video Add-On)

Doom Patrol is a DC superhero series but it exists in a very unique, violent, and weird world that feels weirdly similar to the world of Fallout. Based on a DC comic book series of the same name by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney, and Bruno Premiani and it was developed for television by Jeremy Carver, the superhero series follows the story of a group of traumatized misfits with unusual powers brought together by Chief. Doom Patrol stars Timothy Dalton, Brendan Fraser, April Bowlby, Diane Guerrero, Matt Bomer, Riley Shanahan, Jovian Wade, and Alan Tudyk starring in supporting roles.
