Sweet Tooth is a dystopian adventure drama based on a DC comic book series of the same name by Jeff Lemire. Created by Jim Mickle, the Netflix series is set in a world that was destroyed because of a viral pandemic killing off most of the human population, and at the same time, new babies start to be born as animal and human hybrids. Sweet Tooth follows the story of a hybrid boy named Gus and his gruff protector who travel across America to find Gus’ mother while being chased by hunters who kill hybrid babies. Cowboy Bebop (Crunchyroll & Rent on Prime Video)
Cowboy Bebop is a very hard-to-describe neo-noir space western anime created by Hajime Yatate. The 1998 anime series is set in the year 2071, nearly fifty years after an accident with a hyperspace gateway that made the Earth uninhabitable follows the story of a group of bounty hunters led by Spike, as they go on various adventures dealing with several psychotic criminals. Cowboy Bebop also has a live-action adaptation on Netflix, but it’s not as good as the original series.
Doom Patrol (HBO Max & Prime Video Add-On)
Doom Patrol is a DC superhero series, but it exists in a very unique, violent, and weird world that feels weirdly similar to the world of Fallout. Based on a DC comic book series of the same name by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney, and Bruno Premiani, and developed for television by Jeremy Carver, the superhero series follows the story of a group of traumatized misfits with unusual powers brought together by Chief.
