This July, we are getting a ton of content from the much-anticipated conclusion of The Sandman and return of the beloved series Twisted Metal on streaming, to the release of some of the most anticipated movies of this year, such as James Gunn‘s Superman, and the much-awaited The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This upcoming month will see the release of many great movies, so we thought of compiling a list of all the best movies that are coming straight to streaming.
The Old Guard 2 (July 2) – Netflix

The Old Guard 2 is an upcoming superhero action fantasy film directed by Victoria Mahoney from a screenplay by Greg Rucka. Based on the comic book of the same name by Rucka and Leandro Fernández, the Netflix sequel film continues the story of Andy as she loses her mortality but still has to fight against the original immortal, who is threatening the world. The Old Guard 2 stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Matthias Schoenaerts, Vân Veronica Ngô, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Uma Thurman, and Henry Golding.
Heads of State (July 2) – Prime Video

Heads of State is an upcoming action film directed by Ilya Naishuller from a screenplay co-written by Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, and Harrison Query. The Prime Video film follows the U.S. president Will Derringer and the United Kingdom Prime Minister Sam Clarke as they find themselves fighting for their lives after their plane goes down, leaving them stranded together. Heads of State stars John Cena, Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra, Jack Quaid, and Paddy Considine.
Sinners (July 4) – HBO Max

Sinners is a supernatural thriller drama film written and directed by Ryan Coogler. The 2025 film is set in the 1930s, and it follows the Moore twins as they leave their life of crime behind and return to their hometown, trying to find peace, but when they get there, they find an even bigger danger waiting for them. Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo.
Brick (July 10) – Netflix

Brick is an upcoming German sci-fi mystery thriller film written and directed by Philip Koch. The Netflix film revolves around a young couple with a fraught relationship as they find themselves trapped in their house after mysterious and unbreakable bricks suddenly surround their house. Brick stars Matthias Schweighofer, Ruby O. Fee, and Frederick Lau.
Almost Cops (July 11) – Netflix

Almost Cops is an upcoming Dutch buddy cop comedy film directed by Gonzalo Fernández Carmona from a screenplay co-written by Thomas van der Ree, Joost Reijmers, and Kenneth Asporaat. The Netflix film revolves around a serious criminal investigator and a rookie cop as they are forced to work together to find a dangerous killer. Almost Cops stars Jandino Asporaat, Werner Kolf, Mark Rietman, Florence Vos Weeda, Juliette van Ardenne, Ferdi Stofmeel, and Teun Kuilboer.
The Amateur (July 17) – Hulu

The Amateur is a vigilante action thriller film directed by James Hawes from a screenplay co-written by Ken Nolan and Gary Spinelli. Based on the 1981 novel of the same name by Robert Littell, the 2025 film follows Charlie Heller, a brilliant CIA cryptographer, as he goes rogue to kill the terrorists who killed his wife. The Amateur stars Rami Malek, Rachel Brosnahan, Caitriona Balfe, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Laurence Fishburne.
The Assessment (July 19) – Hulu

The Assessment is a sci-fi thriller film directed by Fleur Fortuné from a screenplay co-written by Dave Thomas, Nell Garfath-Cox, and John Donnelly. The 2024 film is set in a dystopian future where parenthood is controlled by the government, and it follows a couple wanting to become parents. When a mysterious assessor comes to their doorstep to check if they are responsible enough to be parents, their life falls into chaos. The Assessment stars Elizabeth Olsen, Alicia Vikander, Himesh Patel, Indira Varma, Nicholas Pinnock, Charlotte Ritchie, Leah Harvey, and Minnie Driver.
Happy Gilmore 2 (July 25) – Netflix

Happy Gilmore 2 is an upcoming sports comedy film directed by Kyle Newacheck from a screenplay co-written by Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler. The 2025 sequel film is set three years after the events of the first film, and it follows a now-retired Happy Gilmore as he returns to the game of golf to pay for his daughter’s ballet school.
