As the production date on Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series draws near, more and more updates about the series are coming out. Recently, we reported that Death By Lightning‘s Laura Marcus has been cast as a series regular, and now, according to Variety, Chernobyl‘s Johan Renck will be directing the upcoming TV show.
While the Emmy-winning Swedish filmmaker is best known for HBO’s mini-series Chernobyl, he has worked on episodes of The Walking Dead, Halt and Catch Fire, Bates Motel, and The Last of Us.
The previously announced cast of the upcoming series includes Marcus (Death By Lightning), Lola Petticrew (Say Nothing), and Zachary Hart (Slow Horses), with Roberto Patino and David Wiener serving as the showrunners on the Netflix series.
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed is one of the most popular video game franchises in the world, and with more than 230 million units sold, it is also one of the bestselling games ever.
Production on Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed is expected to take place in Italy in 2026.
