‘Invincible’ – Steven Yeun Says They Will Start Working on Season 2 Soon

Invincible Season 1 Spoiler

Prime Video’s hit animated series Invincible star Steven Yeun, recently gave an update on the show’s highly anticipated second season. Invincible is an animated series based on the long-running comic book series of the same name created by Robert Kirkman. The Prime Video series has earned much acclaim from critics and audiences alike since its release on the streaming service in 2021. Invincible is an animated series that explores the burdens of being a superhero and a strained father-son relationship.

Invincible tells the story of Mark Grayson aka Invincible (Steven Yeun), the son of the world’s most powerful superhero Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). Season 1 sees Mark getting his powers and trying to save the people of the earth while working with other superheroes such as Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs) and Rex Splode (Jason Mantzoukas). Season 1 ends with Mark finding out that his father Omni-Man is not on Earth to save its people but to kill them, and after that, we see a big fight between him and his father. Season 2 will take the story of Invincible and Omni-Man further.

During an interview with Collider, Yeun gave a long-awaited update on the upcoming season of Invincible. The actor said that the development on Season 2 is supposed to start, “at some point soon.” Read the full quote by Yeun below:

We haven’t started. I know we’re starting at some point soon. I’ve talked to Robert, here and there. He’s super excited about it. He thinks Season 2 is gonna be even better than Season 1, which I have no doubt about. If you go to his source material, Invincible is an incredible comic, and just thinking about how much story hasn’t been told from that run, it’s gonna be bonkers. I’m really excited about it.

The production on Season 2 hasn’t started yet, but the assurance from Yeun that Kirkman is close to the development of the series is great because Kirkman’s magic can be seen visibly in the story of Invincible. The animated series is one of the most violent, layered, and brilliant superhero series currently airing on the small screen. With the Invincible being renewed for a second and third season already, we will surely get to see more of Mark and Nolan Grayson.

The superhero industry is largely dominated by the two big franchises namely Marvel and DC, but Prime Video has carved out its place with shows like The Boys and Invincible. These shows don’t delve into the normal superhero stories but they shine a new light on the genre with The Boys showing the bad side of Superheroes and Invincible being a deeper study of the psyche behind the superheroes. Hopefully, Invincible Season 2 will be even better than the first one.
