Toho recently announced a new anime series based on Godzilla, and it might become the best replacement for Kaiju fans, as Season 2 of Production I.G’s Kaiju No. 8 officially concluded earlier this year, and it might take another 1 or 2 years for a new season to come out.
Produced by Studio Orange (Beastars and Trigun Stampede) and IGLOO Studio, the upcoming anime series doesn’t have a name yet, but it will focus on a boy who inherits the powers of Godzilla.
Announced at Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2025, the announcement for the series came from the Japanese Godzilla Twitter/X account, with a tagline: “Is that boy human, or Godzilla?”
Also, Toho recently announced a sequel to Godzilla Minus One, aptly titled Godzilla Minus Zero. A new teaser and a logo for the upcoming sequel film were also revealed, and it will probably come out in late 2026.
Toho’s Chief Godzilla Officer Keiji Ota said that the upcoming series will be a fresh approach to the classic franchise, saying that, “this work, which introduces a boy who inherits the power of Godzilla, is a first for the series. We believe it will allow us to portray both fear and hope in today’s world with even greater depth.“
