‘The Sandman’ Release Date & New Trailer Revealed By Netflix

During Netflix’s Geeked Week the streamer revealed the release date and new trailer for the much anticipated upcoming series The Sandman. The Sandman is an live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s DC comic of the same name. The series stars Tom Sturridge as the lead protagonist Morpheus, or Dream.

The Sandman is executive produced by Gaiman, Allan Heinberg, and David S. Goyer with Heinberg also serving as the showrunner on the first season of the series. Season 1 of The Sandman will reportedly adapt volume 1 of the comic series titled Preludes & Nocturnes, which follows the capture of Dream in the early 1900s and his 105-year captivity under Burgess and his followers. Dream is finally able to escape in the year 2021 while being watched by Burgess and Alex (Burgess’ son).

The Netflix series stars Tom Sturridge (On The Road) as Dream aka The Sandman, Boyd Holbrook will be playing the role of The Corinthian, Charles Dance is Roderick Burgess, Gwendoline Christie is Lucifer, Vivienne Acheampong is Lucien, Sanjeev Bhaskar is Cain, Asim Chaudhry is Abel, Kirby Howell-Baptiste is Death, Mason Alexander Park is Desire, Donna Preston is Despair, Razane Jammal is Lyta Hall, Joely Richardson is Ethel Cripps, Niamh Walsh is Young Ethel Cripps, David Thewlis is John Dee, Kyo Ra is Rose Walker, Patton Oswalt is the voice of Matthew the Raven, Stephen Fry is Gilbert, Jenna Coleman is Johanna Constantine, and Sandra James Young will be playing Unity Kincaid.
