Sony and Nintendo have officially announced that the live-action film adaptation of the popular video game series, The Legend of Zelda, will be delayed from its previously announced March 26, 2027, release date to May 7, 2027.
In a statement on X, The Legend of Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto said that they are changing the release date “for production reasons,” and they will be using this time “to make the film as good as it can be.“
While the stated reason for the Zelda film delay is production reasons, it also doesn’t hurt that the May 7 release date is now wide open after Avengers: Secret Wars moved its release date to December 17, 2027.
The only concrete news we know about the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is that Wes Ball (The Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) is attached to direct it, as no story or casting announcements have been made yet.
The Legend of Zelda is all set to premiere in theaters near you on May 7, 2027.
