Trouble always seems to find Jack Reacher, and this new season proves that. The action crime thriller series is back with its much-anticipated fourth season, and it is better than ever.
Created by Nick Santora, the upcoming season of Reacher is based on Lee Child‘s 2009 book Gone Tomorrow. It follows Reacher as he gets embroiled in a deadly conspiracy after witnessing a suicide on a subway in Philadelphia.
After two seasons of personal grudges and past colliding with present, this season finally showcases what made Reacher great in the first place. Reacher just strolls into a world of corruption and injustice, and him trying to make it right with his wits and fists.
Reacher has never been the kind of show that will make you think or change your worldview. It is a popcorn show with gloriously brutal action, thrilling drama, and entertaining characters, and because it knows that, the Prime Video series has always been a joy to watch.
This season’s story has some of the same tropes we have seen in past outings, and while it does try to keep them fresh for the audience, anybody can see the twist coming from a mile away. Which is my only problem with this season because everything else is as entertaining as we can expect a new Reacher season to be.
In every new season, it seems like Alan Ritchson is getting bigger and bigger, and this season is no different. He is as imposing and as deadly as you want Jack Reacher to be, and in terms of performance, he puts forward a commendable one.
The new players this season are Sydelle Noel as Tamara Green, Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette as Jacob Merrick, Agnez Mo as Lila Hoth, and Anggun as Amisha Hoth. All of them give great performances, but my absolute favorite this season was Kevin Corrigan as Shaun Docherty, a burnt-out cop who just wants to retire without any incident. Corrigan’s scenes with Ritchson are my absolute favorite this season.
In conclusion, Reacher Season 4 doesn’t stray too far from the formula, and it has some predictable twists. However, after watching all eight episodes, I can confidently say that what made the past seasons and Lee Child‘s books so entertaining, you are not going to be disappointed. This season has great characters, entertaining action, a thrilling story, and an amazing cast that brings the story to life in a memorable way.
Reacher Season 4 premieres on Prime Video on August 12, with new episodes releasing weekly.
