A mini-anime adaptation focusing on One Piece‘s Tony Tony Chopper was announced yesterday during a stage presentation for the One Piece franchise at the Jump Festa ’26.
The mini-anime titled CHOPPER’s is all set to air from January 5 with the Japanese morning program Mezamashi TV at 07:36 a.m. The story will revolve around Chopper after he has left the world of pirates and has come to join us in our world.
The announcement for the mini-anime comes after Toei Animation and the long-running franchise’s producer RyÅ«ta Koike announced that One Piece will become a seasonal anime and will produce a maximum of 26 episodes per year. This decision will come into effect after the conclusion of the Egghead arc, after which the series will take a three-month hiatus, and the next arc will return in April 2026.
The decision to turn One Piece into a seasonal anime was made to improve the pacing of the anime series, which was echoed by Toei Animation in their statement, which read that a limited number of episodes will allow them to “incorporate more content, tempo, and pacing of the manga while continuing to leverage the unique storytelling that is only possible with animation.“
One Piece’s Elbaph arc will premiere on April 5, 2026.
