Heart Eyes (May 8)
Heart Eyes is a romantic comedy slasher film directed by Josh Ruben from a screenplay co-written by Phillip Murphy, Christopher Landon, and Michael Kennedy. The 2025 film is set during Valentine’s Week, and it revolves around two coworkers who are mistaken as a couple and soon become the next target of a masked maniac killing couples all over the United States. Heart Eyes stars Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding, Gigi Zumbado, Michaela Watkins, Devon Sawa, Yoson An, and Jordana Brewster.
Nonnas (May 9)
Nonnas is an upcoming feel-good comedy film directed by Stephen Chbosky from a screenplay by Liz Maccie. Based on the life of Joe Scaravella, the owner of the Staten Island restaurant Enoteca Maria, the Netflix film follows Joe, a man who loses his beloved mother and, in order to honor her memory, risks everything by opening an Italian restaurant with the help of a few grandmothers working as chefs. Nonnas stars Vince Vaughn, Lorraine Bracco, Talia Shire, Brenda Vaccaro, Joe Manganiello, Linda Cardellini, and Susan Sarandon.
Smile (May 14)
Smile is a supernatural psychological horror thriller film written and directed by Parker Finn. Based on Finn’s 2020 short film Laura Hasn’t Slept, the 2022 film follows therapist Rose Cotter, who begins to lose her sanity after experiencing a bizarre and traumatic incident involving a patient. To save herself from her new reality, she must face her dark past. Smile stars Sosie Bacon, Jessie T. Usher, Kyle Gallner, Kal Penn, and Rob Morgan.
Fear Street: Prom Queen (May 23)
Fear Street: Prom Queen is an upcoming slasher thriller film directed by Matt Palmer, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Donald McLeary. Based on the 1992 novel The Prom Queen from the Fear Street book series by R.L. Stine, the Netflix film is set in 1988 in a small town, and it follows the students of Shadyside High as they prepare for the prom with many girls vying for the crown. As an unlikely girl gets ahead in the race to become a prom queen, the other girls begin to disappear without a trace. Fear Street: Prom Queen stars India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Ariana Greenblatt, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston.
The Wild Robot (May 24)
The Wild Robot is an animated sci-fi adventure comedy-drama film written and directed by Chris Sanders. Based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Peter Brown, the 2024 film follows Roz, a service robot who gets stranded on an uninhabited island and soon develops relationships with the local wildlife. The Wild Robot’s voice cast includes Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames, Mark Hamill, and Catherine O’Hara.
