HBO Max is ready with an entertainment-packed August this year. The upcoming month will see the return of some of the popular superhero series, Peacemaker, as well as the streaming release of the brilliant and bloody film, Final Destination: Bloodlines. Just like every month, HBO Max is ready to overload you with great content. So, we’re here to tell you about the six new movies and TV shows coming to HBO Max in August 2025.
Final Destination: Bloodlines (August 1)
Final Destination: Bloodlines is a supernatural horror film co-directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein from a screenplay co-written by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor. The 2025 film is the sixth entry into the Final Destination film franchise, and it follows Stefani Reyes, a college student who discovers that her grandmother saved the lives of several people who were supposed to die in an accident in the 1960s, and now death is coming for all of them, including the people who weren’t born then. Final Destination: Bloodlines stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Brec Bassinger, and Tony Todd.
Freaky Tales (August 8)
Freaky Tales is an anthology action comedy film written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The 2024 film is set in 1987 in Oakland, California, during real historical events, and it revolves around four interconnected stories as they clash in violent fashion. Freaky Tales stars Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis, Normani, Dominique Thorne, and Jack Champion.
The Legend of Ochi (August 15)
The Legend of Ochi is a fantasy adventure film written and directed by Isaiah Saxon. The 2025 film is set on the island of Carpathia in a secluded northern village, and it follows Yuri, a young girl who has been taught not to go outside after dark and fear the creature known as Ochi, but when she finds an injured baby Ochi, she decides to go on an adventure to return it to its family. The Legend of Ochi stars Helena Zengel, Finn Wolfhard, Emily Watson, and Willem Dafoe.
Peacemaker Season 2 (August 21)
Peacemaker is a superhero action dark comedy-drama series created by James Gunn. Based on the DC Comics characters of the same name, the upcoming Season 2 of the HBO Max series continues the story of Chris Smith, aka Peacemaker, as he discovers an alternate world where his life is perfect except that life isn’t his. Peacemaker Season 2 stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, Frank Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez, and Tim Meadows.
Abbott Elementary Season 4 (August 23)
Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary-style sitcom series created by Quinta Brunson. Season 4 of the ABC series continues to showcase the daily life of the teachers at the underfunded Abbott Elementary. Abbott Elementary stars Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and William Stanford Davis.
The Cleaning Lady Season 4 (August 23)
The Cleaning Lady is a crime drama series developed by Miranda Kwok. Based on the Argentine series titled La chica que limpia, the fourth and sadly final season of the Fox series continues the story of Thony as she finally gets the chance to work as a medical intern, which could open up a new way for her to get American citizenship for herself and her son. The Cleaning Lady stars Élodie Yung, Adan Canto, Oliver Hudson, Martha Millan, Sebastien LaSalle, Valentino LaSalle, Sean Lew, and Faith Bryant.
