Mike Flanagan‘s new horror series titled The Midnight Club just got a 2022 release on Netflix. The upcoming horror is created by the Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House creator Flanagan and his longtime collaborator Trevor Macy (Gerald’s Game).
The Midnight Club is based on a book of the same name, which was written by the legendary Christopher Pike. The story in the book follows a group of teenagers living in a home for terminally-ill patients, the group always gets together at midnight and tells scary stories to each other. The group also has a pact that the first of them to die will contact the other from the beyond.
The Midnight Club started production in March of 2021, and it was revealed through a Twitter post in which a photo of a clapperboard was published by Flanagan. The caption on the photo was “And we’re off!”, indicating the production on the series has begun, and then the production on the series wrapped up in September 2021.
The horror series stars Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights), Matt Biedel (Midnight Mass), Annarah Cymone (Caged), James Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House), Igby Rigney (Blue Bloods), Samantha Sloyan (Hush), Adia (Danger Love Story), Ruth Codd, Aya Furukawa (The Cabin in the Woods), Sauriyan Sapkota, William Chris Sumpter (Power), Iman Benson (Alexa & Kati), Larsen Thompson (Boléro), William B. Davis (The X-Files), Crystal Balint (The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco), and Patricia Drake (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants).
