Finally, we have some exciting news for Amazon MGM Studios’ adaptation of the sci-fi video game franchise Mass Effect as according to Deadline, the TV series has finally found its showrunner in The Chief of War‘s Doug Jung, who will join Dan Casey in writing the series.

Developed by BioWare, the sci-fi video game franchise depicts a distant future, and it revolves around Commander Shephard, a human soldier, and his crew on a prototype starship as they navigate the galaxy to stop a powerful machine race known as the Reapers from destroying all sentient life.

The first and second Mass Effect games came out in 2007 and 2010, which were released under the banner of Microsoft Game Studios. Then the series was taken over by Electronic Arts, which produced Mass Effect 3 and Mass Effect: Andromeda, and is currently developing a fifth game.

The adaptation series has been under development since 2021, when Amazon made a deal with the interactive entertainment software company. Jung and Casey are all set to executive produce the upcoming military sci-fi series with Electronic Arts’ Michael Gamble, Cedar Tree Productions’ Karim Zreik, Arad Productions’ Ari Arad, and Emmy Yu.

Jung has previously worked on brilliant shows like Cinemax’s Banshee and Netflix’s Mindhunter.
