FX has tapped Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan, the co-writers of Netflix’s astronomical hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters, to develop a new crime drama series with comedic undertones.
As first reported by Deadline, the upcoming FX series is titled A Really Bad Person and it will follow an ordinary American woman who does something completely unexpected during her trip to London. She pretends to be the missing daughter of a British family to obtain U.K. citizenship because she wants a fresh start in her life.
A Really Bad Person will be the first official network series project for Jimenez and McMechan. They are developing the dramedy for Legendary Entertainment and FX Productions, and they will also serve as executive producers alongside Sharon Hall (The Expanse), Brett Baer (Bad Sisters), and David Finkel (United States of Tara).
Jimenez and McMechan are also working on a remake of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman with Warner Bros., LuckyChap, and Warner Bros.
FX Has a Good History With Crime Dramas
While the biggest recent FX hit is undoubtedly Christopher Storer‘s The Bear, there is no denying that FX’s bread and butter are crime dramas from the brilliantly entertaining Noah Hawley‘s TV adaptation of Fargo to its latest teen thriller drama series The Shards, which was co-created by Ryan Murphy and Bret Easton Ellis.
Alongside its slate of moderate budgeted television shows, FX is also developing massive projects like its 2025 sci-fi horror series Alien: Earth as well as an upcoming TV adaptation of the wildly popular Far Cry video game.
Casting and release details for A Really Bad Person are yet to be announced.
