Eden (formerly known as Origin of the Species) is quickly becoming a highly-anticipated film with its non-stop casting announcement of some of the most popular actors working in the industry now. Directed by Ron Howard from a screenplay by Noah Pink, Eden will be a survival thriller film, and while there are reports that say the film is based on a true story, what we know for sure is that the film will be trying to “explore the human condition in ways that are unexpected, absurd, humorous, sexy, but above all thrilling and deeply suspenseful.”
Eden – Filming Location & Production (Where Was It Shot?)
Filming began for Eden on November 27, 2023, with most of the production taking place in Queensland, Australia, and a small unit filming on the Galápagos Islands.
On February 14, 2024, Howard uploaded an Instagram post informing fans that the film had completed filming, saying, “It was a challenging one, but our tremendous cast and crew made it a gratifying and even thrilling creative journey.” Check out the IG post below:
Eden – Release Date (When Is It Coming Out?)
While no specific release date for Eden has been announced, given that it concluded filming in February 2024, it could hit theaters in late 2024 or early 2025.
Eden – Film Festival Premiere (Where Is It Coming Out First?)
While we still don’t know when the Howard star-studded survival thriller will be released in theaters, recently the news broke that Eden is joining the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, which will take place from September 5 to September 15. Eden joins the film festival with other buzzy titles like Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh‘s We Live in Time and Elton John documentary titled Elton John: Never Too Late.
Eden – Cast (Who Is In It?)
Eden has one of the most star-studded casts in recent history after David O. Russell‘s Amsterdam. In May 2023 it was announced that the film will feature an ensemble cast including Ana de Armas, Jude Law, Alicia Vikander, Daniel Bruhl, and Daisy Edgar-Jones. However, Vikander and Edgar-Jones had to drop out of the project for other commitments and then in October 2023, it was announced that Vanessa Kirby and Sydney Sweeney would be replacing the two actresses.
Eden – Plot (What Is It About)
Eden is based on multiple accounts of a real-life story and it follows a group of people who decide to leave civilization behind and head to the Galápagos Islands in pursuit of the meaning of life. Given, the genre of the film I am sure we will see the battle between nature and humanity.
