Bill Murray Reveals He Will Appear in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’

Published on

During a promotional interview for Wes Anderson‘s new film The French Dispatch with the German outlet FAZ, Bill Murray casually revealed that he will appear in the upcoming third installment of Marvel’s Ant-Man’s franchise titled Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Now, we are all wondering what role will he play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the translation of the interview by Variety, Murray said that he’s “not interested in these huge comic book adaptations.” But he took on the role in the MCU’s upcoming film because of director Peyton Reed. As Murray said, “I got to know the director — and really liked him very much. He was funny, humble, everything you want from a director.” Also, he explained that even though his experience on Quantumania was overall positive, he doesn’t think he will be returning for any other Marvel films, in his own word, Murray said, “the director is a good guy, and now I’ve at least tried out what it’s like to shoot a Marvel movie. But I don’t think I need that experience a second time.”

If we read Murray’s interview, we can deduce that the Hollywood legend won’t be cast in a major role, so that he doesn’t have to show up again in future installments, and that still leaves a lot of kind of roles for Murray in the upcoming film. He could play the role of former villain involved with Pym. But there are a lot of possibilities to pin down anything.

Quantumania will bring back Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne. In addition, Kathryn Newton will play the role of Ant-Man’s grown-up daughter Cassie, as we saw her replaced in Avengers: Endgame. The main villain in the upcoming film will be Kang the Conqueror played by Jonathan Majors, who was just introduced in Loki.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be premiering in theaters on July 28, 2023.
