Zack Snyder revealed the official title for his upcoming sequel to the 2021 Netflix film Army of the Dead, in an interview with Inverse. Also, the title for the sequel is not Army of the Dead 2 as everybody has been referring to the film, it is Planet of the Dead.
The news is coming right before the release of the Army of the Dead spin-off film Army of Thieves. The spin-off film is premiering on Netflix in two days. While Snyder has writing credits alongside Shay Hatten in Army of Thieves, he didn’t direct the film, as the spin-off film is directed by the lead actor in the film Matthias Schweighoefer, who plays the German safecracker Ludwig Dieter in both the prequel and the original Army of the Dead film.
Another prequel series that takes place in the Army of the Dead universe titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, is coming to Netflix, but unlike Army of the Dead, Army of Thieves, and Planet of the Dead, the spin-off series will be animated. Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Omari Hardwick, and Tig Notaro will be coming to voice their characters in the upcoming animated spin-off series.
Army of Thieves is coming to Netflix on November 29, but we still don’t know when Planet of the Dead will begin production, and when it will be premiering on Netflix.
