The CW hit series All American‘s upcoming spinoff series titled All American: Homecoming has added Mitchell Edwards, who is known for his role of Cam Watkins in the original show as a series regular, as reported by Deadline. Rhoyle Ivy King (The Sex Lives of College Girls) has also joined the spinoff series as a recurring character.
Homecoming is written by Nkechi Okoro Carroll, who also serves as the showrunner on All American. The series is directed by Michael Schultz and it follows a young tennis player from Beverly Hills, Simone Hicks (Geffri Maya), and a baseball star from Chicago Damons Sims (Peyton Alex Smith). The series will see them navigating college life and being grown-ups at a young age, and it will all happen in the prestigious History Black College. The series also stars Kelly Jenrette, Cory Hardrict, Sylvester Powell, Netta Walker, and Camille Hyde.
Edwards’ Cam Watkins was the Crenshaw football nemesis of Spencer James in the original series, but now in the spinoff series, he’ll be seen as a Bringston University student. The CW describes him as “the same charming, yet extremely cocky pain in the butt we loved to hate on, but a shocking turn of fate early in season one will have both us and Cam himself reevaluating who he really is inside and out.”
King will be taking on the role of Nathaniel, a non-binary, gender-fluid person. Nathaniel is a thriving stylist, and she is described as a very loyal person. Her best friends are Simone and Keisha.
All American: Homecoming will be premiering on The CW on February 21.
