During Netflix’s Geeked Week event the streamer revealed the first trailer for their upcoming series 1899, which is created by the minds behind one of the best sci-fi series ever Dark. The upcoming series will follow a group of European immigrants who are going to New York, and they come across a ship adrift in the middle of the ocean from then on the things of nightmares come to life.
The teaser of 1899 suggests that the fans of the Dark series will not be disappointed with the creators’ latest work as it also features multiple mysteries, symbols and artifacts, important dates, and above all gloomy cinematography. While the series does look like Dark in some ways its story seems to be completely different and fresh.
1899 will be a multilingual series and its cast will include Anton Lesser (Game of Thrones), Alexandre Willaume (The Wheel of Time), Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen (The Rain), Clara Rosager (Morbius), Jonas Bloquet (Elle), Miguel Bernardeau (Elite), Richard Hope (Broadchurch), and Mathilde Ollivier (Overlord). The original series revolves around a migrant steamship heading west to leave the old continent from London to New York. The passengers, a mixed bag of European origins, are united by their hopes and dreams for the new century and their future abroad. When they discover another migrant ship adrift on open sea, their journey takes an unexpected turn. What they find on board will turn their passage to the promised land into a horrifying nightmare.
