Michael B. Jordan‘s upcoming film “The Thomas Crown Affair” recently added Ruth Negga (Preacher), Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), and Paapa Essiedu (The Lazarus Project).
Based on the 1968 film of the same name by Alan Trustman and it was also adapted in 1999 with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo starring in the lead roles. The Thomas Crown Affair follows an insurance investigator as she tries to catch the billionaire who stole a painting.
The Amazon MGM Studios remake film is written by Drew Pearce, and its previously announced cast includes Kenneth Branagh, Adria Arjona, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart.
Jordan will be directing, producing, and starring in the upcoming film and described the process as “the second hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.“
Jordan also described how the Brosnan version influenced his film. Saying that “I loved the 1999 version as a kid – Pierce Brosnan, the slickness, the art. I didn’t grow up going to museums, so that film showed me a different side of New York. My mom’s an artist – so I was raised around paints and leather dyeing. It shaped my taste more than I realized.“
The Thomas Crown Affair is all set to premiere on March 5, 2027.
