‘The Divine Comedy’: First Look at Patricio Valladares’ New Film From Skincrawl Studios

Published on

First look images for Chilean filmmaker Patricio Valladares‘ modern adaptation of Dante‘s “Inferno,” titled “The Divine Comedy,” have been released by Skincrawl Studios.

From a screenplay by Loris Curci, The Divine Comedy will serve as a modern retelling of Dante Alighieri‘s 14th-century poem, which describes a journey into hell. The film stars Christopher Rygh (“Vikings: Valhalla“), Matthew Metcalfe, Tilda Metsola, and Fadhillah Othman.

The film follows Dante, a grieving writer who descends into the realm of the dead to bring back his dead wife. His journey into hell proves to be extremely nightmarish as he journeys through one circle of hell after another and is confronted by supernatural entities and manifestations of his inner feelings.

The upcoming horror feature is a co-production of the Dublin-based Skincrawl Limited and Italy’s Anxur Films.

Valladares’ past works include this year’s found-footage horror film, Invoking Scream. He also directed the 2023 film Invoking Yell and last year’s Spanish horror fantasy drama film, Lo Que Trajo La Marea.

Skincrawl Studios is set to put the film on the market for international buyers at next month’s American Film Market and next year’s European Film Market.
