This October, we are getting a ton of content on streaming services from the much-anticipated new seasons of Nobody Wants This and Mayor of Kingstown. This upcoming month will see the release of many great movies on streaming, so we thought of compiling a list of all the must-watch new movies that are coming straight to streaming.

Play Dirty (October 1) – Prime Video

Play Dirty is a heist action thriller film directed by Shane Black, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Charles Mondry and Anthony Bagarozzi. Based on Richard Stark’s Parker book series, the Prime Video film follows Parker, a professional thief who gathers his crew to pull off a deadly heist, and in the process, he goes up against the New York mafia. Play Dirty stars Mark Wahlberg, LaKeith Stanfield, Rosa Salazar, Keegan-Michael Key, Chukwudi Iwuji, Nat Wolff, Gretchen Mol, Thomas Jane, and Tony Shalhoub.

Fight or Flight (October 1) – Paramount+

Fight or Flight is an action comedy film directed by James Madigan from a screenplay co-written by Brooks McLaren and D.J. Cotrona. The 2025 film follows Lucas Reyes, a disgraced former Secret Service Agent who’s tasked with finding a catching a wanted hacker on a commercial plane filled with assassins to get his old life back. Fight or Flight stars Josh Hartnett, Charithra Chandran, Marko Zaror, and Katee Sackhoff.

The Lost Bus (October 3) – Apple TV+

The Lost Bus is a survival drama film directed by Paul Greengrass, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Greengrass. Based on Lizzie Johnson’s 2021 non-fiction book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire, the Apple TV+ film follows Kevin McKay, a bus driver who must carry a group of children to safety during the deadliest fire in California history. The Lost Bus stars Matthew McConaughey, America Ferrera, Yul Vasquez, and Ashlie Atkinson.

Steve (October 3) – Prime Video

Steve is a drama film directed by Tim Mielants from a screenplay by Max Porter. Based on Porter’s 2023 novella titled Shy, the Netflix film follows headteacher Steve, who’s responsible for a group of troubled boys with behavioral issues. Steve stars Cillian Murphy, Tracey Ullman, Jay Lycurgo, Simbi Ajikawo, and Emily Watson.

Honey Don’t! (October 3) – Peacock

Honey Don’t! is a neo-noir dark comedy detective film directed by Ethan Coen, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Tricia Cooke. The 2025 film is the second film in Cooke and Coen’s lesbian B-movie trilogy. It is set in Bakersfield, California, and it follows private investigator Honey O’Donahue, who investigates the murder of a troubled young woman involved with a slimy priest. Honey Don’t stars Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans, and Charlie Day.

Maintenance Required is an upcoming romantic comedy film directed by Lacey Uhlemeyer, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Roo Berry and Erin Falconer. The Prime Video film follows Charlie, the owner of an all-female mechanic shop, who hates Beau, her business rival, but what they both don’t know is that they are each other’s online confidant. Maintenance Required stars Madelaine Petsch, Jacob Scipio, Madison Bailey, Katy O’Brian, Inanna Sarkis, Matteo Lane, and Jim Gaffigan.

The Hulu film revolves around a couple whose marriage is coming to an end, but things soon change when a supernatural force traps them in their house, and they must fight to survive. The Paramount+ film follows a woman who is given a mysterious box one night by an elderly woman, which requires something you need, something you hate, and something you love to be put inside it, and if that doesn’t happen, it will have a horrific result. Vicious stars Dakota Fanning, Kathryn Hunter, Mary McCormack, Rachel Blanchard, and Devyn Nekoda.

The Woman in Cabin 10 is an upcoming psychological mystery thriller film directed by Simon Stone, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse. Based on Ruth Ware’s 2016 novel of the same name, the Netflix film follows Laura “Lo” Blacklock, a journalist covering a luxury cruise ship where she witnesses a passenger being thrown overboard, but things get complicated when she discovers that every passenger and crew member is accounted for. The Woman in Cabin 10 stars Keira Knightley, Guy Pearce, Art Malik, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, and Hannah Waddingham.

How To Train Your Dragon (October 10) – Peacock

How to Train Your Dragon is a fantasy adventure film written and directed by Dean DeBlois. Based on Cressida Cowell’s 2003 novel of the same name, the 2025 film is a live-action remake of the animated films of the same name. It follows Hiccup, a young Viking boy who belongs to the people who consider dragons their mortal enemies, but things change when Hiccup befriends a dragon. How to Train Your Dragon stars Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gabriel Howell, Julian Dennison, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Peter Serafinowicz, Nick Frost, and Gerard Butler.

It will conclude the story of Noah and Nick as they reunite four years after breaking up at a wedding.
