It’s a new month and Netflix is here with some much-anticipated new original movies and TV shows. As always Netflix is proving itself by releasing compelling content month after month on its platform. This month is no different as there will be something new for everyone, from comedy to drama and action to fantasy. So, here are the best new and licensed movies and shows coming on Netflix in April 2024.

Baby Driver (April 1)

Edgar Wright has one of the most unique styles of filmmaking and he has proven that again and again in his work on the Cornetto trilogy and Scott Pilgrim vs The World, but the film that gave him a big name in Hollywood was the 2017 film Baby Driver. Written and directed by Wright, the action thriller film follows the story of Baby, a getaway driver as he is forced to partake in heists. Baby Driver stars Ansel Elgort in the lead role with Lily James, Jon Hamm, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Eiza González, and Jon Bernthal starring in supporting roles.

The Matrix Trilogy (April 1)

The Matrix trilogy by the Wachowski Sisters is a classic and there is no chance that you haven’t heard about or seen one of these films by now. The Matrix is a sci-fi action film and it follows the story of Neo, a hacker who begins to question the reality of the world he is living in and that’s when he is informed by Morpheus that he is living in a simulation called the Matrix and in the real world, the machines have won the war against humans. The Matrix stars Keanu Reeves in the lead role with Carrie-Anne Moss, Laurence Fishburne, Hugo Weaving, Gloria Foster, and Joe Pantoliano starring in supporting roles.

White Collar Seasons 1-6 (April 1)

White Collar is a crime-drama procedural series created by Jeff Eastin. The USA Network series follows the story of Neal Caffrey, a con artist who is given the chance to work off his prison sentence under FBI Agent Peter Burke. Neal and Peter join hands to take down some of the most dangerous and cunning thieves and con artists. White Collar stars Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay in the lead roles with Willie Garson, Tiffani Thiessen, Marsha Thomason, Sharif Atkins, Hilarie Burton, and Natalie Morales starring in supporting roles.

Ripley Season 1 (April 4)

Based on the brilliant 1995 crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley by author Patricia Highsmith, the upcoming Netflix series Ripley is the second adaptation of the popular novel, the adaptation was a film directed by Anthony Minghella and it starred Matt Damon, and Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow in leading roles. Set in the 1960s, the Netflix series will follow the story of Tom Ripley as he is hired by a wealthy man to go to Italy and bring back his wayward son Dickie Greenleaf. But Tom has his own plans for Dickie. Ripley stars Andrew Scott, Johnny Flynn, and Dakota Fanning in the main roles.

Parasyte: The Grey Season 1 (April 5)

Based on the brilliant sci-fi horror manga titled Parasyte by Hitoshi Iwaaki, the upcoming Netflix series titled Parasyte: The Grey is set in a world where a group of mysterious parasitic creatures fall from the sky and start taking over humans and form a group of their own in this world. As the creatures are growing in number humans are also teaming up to protect their world and bodies. Co-written and directed by Yeon Sang-ho, Parasyte: The Grey stars Jeon So-nee, Koo Kyo-hwan, and Lee Jung-hyun in main roles.

Scoop (April 5)

Directed by Philip Martin from a screenplay by Peter Moffat, the upcoming Netflix film titled Scoop is a biographical drama based on the book titled Scoops: Behind the Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interviews by author Sam McAllister and it tells the behind-the-scenes story of an interview which was described as less a car crash than “a plane crashing into an oil tanker, causing a tsunami, triggering a nuclear explosion.” Yes, we are talking about the interview of Prince Andrew by Newsnight’s Emily Maitlis. Scoop stars Gillian Anderson, Rufus Sewell, Billie Piper, and Keeley Hawes.

Baby Reindeer Season 1 (April 11)

Baby Reindeer is a dark and haunting drama series created by and starring Richard Gadd, and also the series is based on a play of the same name by Gadd. The upcoming Netflix series follows the story of a stand-up comedian dealing with a female stalker, who forces him to face his buried trauma. Baby Reindeer also stars Jessica Gunning, Danny Kirrane, Hugh Coles, and Nava Mau.

Good Times Season 1 (April 12)

The upcoming Netflix series is an r-rated animated reboot of the classic 1974 sitcom Good Times created by Mike Evans and Eric Montes, and it has also been described as a “spiritual sequel.” Created by Ranada Shepard and Carl Jones, Good Times once again follows the comedic adventures of the Evans family as they chase money, a good life, and peace.

Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver (April 19)

Zack Snyder’s sci-fi epic Rebel Moon continues its story in the second part of the film titled The Scargiver. The upcoming Netflix sequel follows the story of Kora and her fellow warriors as they get ready to lay down their lives to protect their once-peaceful village. Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver stars Sofia Boutella in the lead role with Charlie Hunnam, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Skrein, Staz Nair, Charlotte Maggi, Ray Fisher, Djimon Hounsou, Jena Malone, Michiel Huisman, and Cary Elwes starring in supporting roles.

Anyone But You (April 23)

Based on William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, Anyone But You is the most successful romantic comedy film of recent times. Directed by Will Gluck, the Sony film follows the story of two young and really attractive people as their hate towards each other turns into love while attending a wedding in Australia. Anyone But You stars Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell in the lead role with Darren Barnet, Alexandra Shipp, Charlee Fraser, Dermot Mulroney, Hadley Robinson, Joe Davidson, Michelle Hurd, and Bryan Brown starring in supporting roles.

City Hunter Season 1 (April 25)

Based on the best-selling manga of the same name by Tsukasa Hojo, the upcoming live-action Netflix film titled City Hunter follows the story of an excellent marksman and a hopeless playboy Ryo Saeba as he reluctantly teams up with his former partner’s sister to investigate his partner’s death. Directed by Yûichi Satô, City Hunter stars Ryohei Suzuki in the lead role with Misato Morita, Masanobu Andô, Fumino Kimura, Asuka Hanamura, and Isao Hashizume starring in supporting roles.

Dead Boy Detectives Season 1 (April 25)

Dead Boy Detectives is a supernatural detective drama created by Steve Yockey. Based on a DC comic character of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, the upcoming Netflix series follows the story of Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, who didn’t cross into the afterlife to stay on Earth to investigate the crimes committed by supernatural entities. Dead Boy Detectives stars George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri in the lead roles with Kassius Nelson, Briana Cuoco, Ruth Connell, Yuyu Kitamura, and Jenn Lyon starring in supporting roles.

Boiling Point Season 1 (April 29)

Boiling Point is a stressful four-part British drama created by Philip Barantini and James Cummings. The series is the continuation of the 2021 drama film of the same name it is set six months after the events of the film and it shows us Carly running her restaurant while her mentor Andy Jones recovers from his heart attack. Boiling Point stars Vinette Robinson in the lead role with Stephen Graham, Steven Ogg, Hannah Walters, Ray Panthaki, Gary Lamont, Áine Rose Daly, Taz Skylar, Daniel Larkai, and Stephen McMillan starring in supporting roles.
