Idris Elba’s Luther Film Adds Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis to Cast

The highly anticipated sequel film to BBC crime thriller series Luther has confirmed two more stars for its cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis will be joining Idris Elba in the upcoming Netflix and BBC joint production film.

The film is supposed to continue the plot of the BBC series and in the film, DCI John Luther will be facing more than one enemy. According to THR, Erivo is taking on the role of a detective who represents one of Luther’s nemeses and Serkis is set to play the role of the villain.

Luther film will be written by the series creator Neil Cross and it will be directed by Jamie Payne, who directed the last season of the BBC series.

The film will be produced by Cross, Elba, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready. While Dan Finlay, Priscilla Parish, and Kris Thykier serve as executive producers on the film.

Erivo recently appeared in the latest season of National Geographic’s series Genius, and Serkis is set to appear in the upcoming Matt ReevesThe Batman as Alfred Pennyworth.

No release date for the Luther film has been announced yet but the filming will start sometime in November.
