‘God Country’ Movie Adaptation to be Directed By ‘Sweeth Tooth’ Showrunner Jim Mickle for Netflix

Published on

Netflix’s hit series Sweet Tooth showrunner and executive producer Jim Mickle will be directing the movie adaptation of God Country comics for Netflix as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be based on the comic written by Donny Cates, who will co-write the film with Mickle. The art for the comics was created by Geoff Shaw.

God Country tells the story of Emmet Quinlan, an old widower who suffers from dementia and violent outbursts. After a tornado hits his home in West Texas, Quinlan finds himself feeling better because of an enchanted sword he found in the wreckage. Now he has to use the sword to fight off otherworldly creatures in order to protect his family because they want the sword’s powers.

The film will be produced by Mary Parent and Ali Mendes from Legendary, Lee Kramer and Jon Kramer from AfterShock Media, and Mickle and Linda Moran from Nightshade Banner.

The release date for God Country has not been announced yet.
