Sinners is a supernatural horror movie written and directed by Ryan Coogler. The 2025 film is set in the 1930s in the Mississippi Delta, and it revolves around the twin Smokestack brothers who leave their life of crime behind to live peacefully in their hometown, but when they get there, they find something far more sinister and far more dangerous. The Monkey (Hulu & Rent on Prime Video)
If you love the blend of dark humour and brutal kills, then Osgood Perkins’ new film, The Monkey, is for you. Based on Stephen King’s 1980 short story of the same name, the 2025 film revolves around the twin Shelburn brothers who decide to go back to their hometown to destroy a toy monkey that brutally kills people. The Monkey stars Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, Sarah Levy, and Adam Scott.
Heart Eyes (Netflix & Rent on Prime Video)
Heart Eyes might be one of the most entertaining Halloween movies that wasn’t released on Halloween. Directed by Josh Ruben, the slasher romantic comedy film is set during Valentine’s Day, and it follows two colleagues who are mistaken for a couple by a masked killer who brutally murders couples. Heart Eyes stars Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding, Gigi Zumbado, Michaela Watkins, Devon Sawa, and Jordana Brewster.
Clown in a Cornfield (Shudder)
Clown in a Cornfield is a slasher thriller film directed by Eli Craig, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Carter Blanchard. Based on the 2020 novel of the same name, the 2025 film is set in the slowly dying small town of Kettle Springs, and it follows the newly arrived Quinn, a teenage girl whose quiet small town experience turns deadly after a sinister clown emerges from the cornfield. M3GAN 2.0 (Peacock & Rent on Prime Video)
Extremely campy, absurdly humorous, and schlocky fun, all of these can be used to describe the much-anticipated sequel to the sci-fi action horror film M3GAN 2.0, and while this sequel isn’t really a horror film, it does somewhat fit in the genre. Written and directed by Gerald Johnstone, the 2025 sequel film sees M3GAN and Gemma joining forces to stop a rogue new robot called AMELIA. M3GAN 2.0 stars Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Amie Donald, Jenna Davis, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Jen Van Epps, and Ivanna Sakhno.
Final Destination Bloodlines (HBO Max & Rent on Prime Video)
Final Destination Bloodlines was one of the most surprisingly brilliant horror movies of this year, as it defied expectations by being actually a good movie. Co-directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, the 2025 film is the sixth entry into the Final Destination film franchise, and it follows the family of a woman who cheated death, and now death is coming for all of them. Final Destination stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Brec Bassinger, and Tony Todd.
