While James Cameron is not too keen on talking about the next films in his billion-dollar franchise, we recently got some interesting information from Sigourney Weaver, who said that “I narrate the next one [Avatar 4], it’s a major part of the saga for Kiri,” during her interview with Jake’s Takes.
Weaver played the role of Dr. Grace Augustine in the first film, and in the next two films, she played the role of Dr. Augustine’s Na’vi daughter, Kiri.
The first two Avatar films were narrated by Jake Sully, while the third film was narrated by Sully’s Na’vi son Lo’ak, and with the fourth film changing narrators once again it seems that there will be a big shift in the story in the next film, which was echoed in Weaver’s interviewed who said that “it’s a big shift in four and five.“
While Cameron has said that if Avatar: Fire and Ash will be the last film in the franchise, he will be okay with that as he has wrapped most of the storylines in this film, but there are supposed to be five Avatar films, and Cameron has already shot parts of the fourth film back in 2024.
They had to shoot some of Avatar 4 because there is going to be a massive time jump in the fourth film, and as Cameron put it in his Variety interview – “We see them and then we go away for six years and we come back. And so the part where we come back is the part we haven’t shot yet. So we’ll start on that after three [Avatar: Fire and Ash] is released.”
