‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Season 2 Production Will Be Harder, According to Showrunner

Published on

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has quickly become a hit for HBO by giving us a unique look at the world of Game of Thrones. Despite its success, showrunner Ira Parker told THR in a recent interview that the next season of the Game of Thrones spin-off will be a challenge.

Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will have the same episode count as its first season, but the real problem, according to Parker, is that it will also have the same budget. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was already made on a pretty modest budget compared to other Game of Thrones shows, but as the series progresses, the budgets also tend to rise, if not for any other reason than just because of inflation.

Parker explained, “It’ll still be six episodes. I think the scope will be same, maybe even smaller. The budget has stayed the same, but everything is more expensive due to inflation. Plus, book two takes place in a drought, so we can’t shoot exteriors in Belfast. We have to go to a sunny location with no water, which costs money — that’s a major expense that we did not have in season one. I’m having a lot of fun Season two. It’s going to be a different season, and, I hope, for the better.

Based on George R.R. Martin‘s novella series Tales of Dunk and Egg, the HBO series is adapted for television by Parker and R.R. Martin. The next season of the HBO series will adapt the Tales of Dunk and Egg novella, The Sworn Sword.

What is ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ About?

He soon takes on a young boy named Egg as a squire.
