Netflix is nothing if not a goldmine of content, with basically something to watch for everyone, and today we are making a list of the new original movies coming to Netflix in 2023. The release date for the upcoming 2023 Netflix Original movies was announced recently by the streaming service. So, here’s every movie release date announced by Netflix.
You People (January 27)
Synopsis: A new couple and their families find themselves examining modern love and family dynamics amidst clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences in this comedy from Kenya Barris.
Your Place or Mine (February 10)
Synopsis: Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher) are best friends and total opposites. She craves routine with her son in LA; he thrives on change in NY. When they swap houses and lives for a week they discover what they think they want might not be what they really need.
Luther: The Fallen Sun (March 10)
Synopsis: In Luther: The Fallen Sun — an epic continuation of the award-winning television saga reimagined for film — a gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther (Idris Elba) sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary. The film also stars Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis and Dermot Crowley, who returns as Martin Schenk.
Murder Mystery 2 (March 31)
Synopsis: Now full-time detectives struggling to get their private eye agency off the ground, Nick and Audrey Spitz find themselves at the center of an international abduction when their friend the Maharaja is kidnapped at his own lavish wedding.
The Mother (May 12)
Synopsis: The Mother casts Lopez as an assassin who’s forced to come out of hiding to protect the daughter she left earlier in life. They’re both fleeing from dangerous assailants, and, as we see in the teaser, their circumstances look pretty dire. Directed by Niki Caro, the movie also stars Joseph Fiennes, Gael García Bernal, Omari Hardwick and Lucy Paez.
Extraction 2 (June 16)
The first Extraction film premiered on Netflix in 2020 and became one of the most-watched Netflix original films. Extraction tells the story of Tyler Rake as a mercenary, who is hired to rescue the kidnapped son of an Indian drug lord. At the end of the first film, the fate of Tyler Rake was unclear as he was shot and was believed to be dead, but that may not be the case. Extraction 2 is going to make some memorable action scenes and a lot of inventive set pieces with stunt veteran Sam Hargrave returning to the director’s chair and Joe Russo will pen the script. Chris Hemsworth is returning as Tyler Rake and the director Sam Hargreeves will also be returning to direct the sequel.
They Cloned Tyrone (July 21)
Synopsis: A series of eerie events thrusts an unlikely trio (Boyega, Foxx and Parris) onto the trail of a nefarious government conspiracy in this pulpy mystery caper.
Heart of Stone (August 11)
Synopsis: Rachel Stone (Gal Gadot) is an intelligence operative, the only woman who stands between her powerful, global, peace-keeping organization and the loss of its most valuable — and dangerous — asset.
Lift (August 25)
Synopsis: An international heist crew is recruited to prevent a terrorist attack, and must pull off the heist on a plane mid-flight.
Damsel (October 13)
Synopsis: A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.
Pain Hustlers (October 27)
Synopsis: Upon losing her job, a blue-collar woman struggling to raise her daughter takes a job at a failing pharmaceutical start-up, only to get involved in a dangerous racketeering scheme.
The Killer (November 10)
Synopsis: After a fateful near-miss an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.
A Family Affair (November 17)
Synopsis: A surprising romance kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity.
Leo (November 22)
Synopsis: Adam Sandler is a lizard named Leo in this coming-of-age musical comedy about the last year of elementary school as seen through the eyes of a class pet.
Leave the World Behind (December 8)
Synopsis: A family vacation on Long Island is interrupted by two strangers bearing news of a mysterious blackout. As the threat grows more imminent, both families must decide how best to survive the potential crisis, all while grappling with their own place in this collapsing world.
Rebel Moon (December 22)
Synopsis: When a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, they dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand.
